Israel New president Rubi Rivlin says:
"The legacy of Rabin is, for me, also the legacy of leadership, a defining, molding leadership which courageously stands up to difficult decisions. 'I will decide and I will navigate,' he declared, and he indeed navigated according to his conscience and without excuses."

"He led without excuses, as a commander. He led without excuses, as a fighter. And he led without excuses as a member of Knesset, a minister, and a prime minister. The person who knew to take responsibility, as prime minister, for the successful operation in Entebbe, knew to also take responsibility, as prime minister, for the failure of the operation to free kidnapped IDF soldier Nachshon Wachsman," Rivlin said in his laudatory remarks.

"With Rabin, neither the failures nor the successes were orphans," he added.

Dalia Rabin, Yitzhak's daughter, also spoke at the ceremony. "This year, as in the past 19 years ago, we come here to light the memorial candle. Year after year we come here to remember the words, the pictures, and the songs with the children. Everyone is here because, every year, we return and are shocked from the memories of that dark and dreary night."

Note: If you lose your book, you will be charged $20 per replacement book.
The student must come to class with all the necessary materials:
Binder with the following:
-          Textbook
-          Notebook
-          Writing Material
It is the student’s responsibility to complete the missing HW if the student was absent.
The teachers will be available to help students with their homework or with missing work on Mondays during Study Hall or between 7:30-7:50 am every day at the Hebrew teacher’s office.

Late Policy
It is expected that student will submit assignments at or before the assigned due date. If a student fails to submit an assignment on the assigned due date, they will be required to fill out a form that indicates their failure to meet the due date.  This form will serve as a contract that is turned in to the front desk, scanned and sent to their teacher, parents and counselor giving the student three school days to complete the assignment and turn the assignment in to the assigning teacher at a 10% per day reduction.  After this time the assignment will not be accepted. Daily homework may not be accepted late or incomplete based on the discretion and policy of the assigning teacher.
Retake Policy
Students will have an opportunity to retake summative assessments when they score 75% or lower.  Summative assessment tasks are assessments that take place at the end of the teaching and learning process to assess a student’s mastery of the content and/or skills. Summative assessments consist mainly of unit tests and/or quizzes. A score of 75% demonstrates minimally meeting the standards.
Students who do not demonstrate meeting the standards will have the opportunity to retake the summative assessment one time to earn a higher grade, up to a 75%. In order to retake the summative assessment, students must meet with the teacher to get feedback as to how to better prepare and they must demonstrate that they have completed the necessary steps to improve performance. The summative assessment retake may or may not be in the same format as the first assessment, but will assess the same standards.

In School Printing Policy
As class time is for learning, any work that requires printing for submission should be printed before the class starts each day.  In an effort to support students who are having difficulty printing at home, students will be able to have out-of-class work printed at school from 7:25-7:55 am each day.  After 7:55 am, faculty and staff will not print student work.

Tu B'shvat
The Birthday of the Trees
חג שמח

this week in all classes we talked  about the Tu B'shvat. The students learned why we classed it "The Birthday of the trees", the History of JNF, and what does is mean: "The land of milk and honey"
6 graders had a Tu B'shvat Seder; like the old people in Tzfat. We drank grape juice to symbolize the 4 seasons, sang songs, ate fruit and the 7 species as they do in Israel.
Enjoy the pictures and Shabbat-Shalom.

Monday. Jan 13, 2014

Today in all classes we talked about Ariel Sharon Z"L.
Ariel Sharon ; 26 February 1928 – 11 January 2014) was an Israeli politician and general, who served as the 11th Prime Minister of Israel until he was incapacitated by a stroke.[1]
Sharon was a commander in the Israeli Army from its creation in 1948. As a paratrooper and then an officer, he participated prominently in the 1948 War of Independence, becoming a platoon commander in the Alexandroni Brigade and taking part in many battles, including Operation Ben Nun Alef. He was an instrumental figure in the creation of Unit 101, and the Retribution operations, as well as in the 1956 Suez Crisis, the Six-Day War of 1967, the War of Attrition, and the Yom-Kippur War of 1973. As Minister of Defense, he directed the 1982 Lebanon War.
Sharon was considered the greatest field commander in Israel's history, and one of the country's greatest military strategists.[2] After his assault of the Sinai in the Six-Day War and his encirclement of the Egyptian Third Army in the Yom Kippur War, the Israeli public nicknamed him "The King of Israel," and "The Lion of God",[2] a pun on his given name.

The students opened Y-net- Israeli news websites and together we read and watched a short movie about Ariel Sharon Z"L
זכרונו לברכה.
